What is this place?

Essentially? This is my fucking house. You're inside my fucking house, so wipe your combat boots before coming in.

I've been complaining for years about social media's increasing lack of customization and how said sameness would often add to my anxiety involving my usage of it. Instead of my profiles feeling like my house, where I could post what I liked, I felt like was renting a motel room and the owners had allowed me to scribble my name on a piece of paper and tape it to the door on the condition that I satisfy the pea-sized attention spans of the other tennants by following trends and drawing exclusively what would, as the kids say, "go viral". Something I could never really bring myself to do.

Not to mention, it doesn't feel like your space, so it's easier for people to come into your dms/comments/what have you and give you a hard time, because it doesn't feel like they're coming into your house. Social media feels like sharing a very small room with a bunch of very loud, depressing roommates. Social media is a public square and everyone is shouting at the top of their lungs. I'm very big on personalization, and it was killing me that I couldn't put more of my personality into my social media presence.

This place also doubles as an archive of all my work that will (hopefully) still be here even if Tumblr and Twitter and Bluesky decide to go belly up and decompose in the ever-growing river of dead webites. I wanted a place where I could be myself and display my art within the full context of my personality, interests, and aesthetics, as opposed to seeing it in the very out-of-place environent that is your average, bland, soulless social media feed.

This site is not only under construction, it's also being programmed by me of all fucking people. I'm learning to code for the first time in 10 years and I'm just kinda making this shit up as I go along. It's bound to have TONS of accessibility issues and fuckups but I'm trying my best. This site was programmed on Firefox on a 1920 x 1080 screen.
